Stable States in Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

We study the stability of the molecular structure of DOBAMBC, a prototype of ferrolectric liquid crystal, using the linear stability analisys for Hamiltonian systems. We show the existence of thermodynamically stable states in a narrow temperature region tex2html_wrap_inline1032 between the A - phase and the ordinary smectic - C* phase.
